Storm Thorgerson was an English graphic designer who designed lots of artworks for music groups such as Pink Floyd, Dream Theater and The Mars Volta. The famous cover for Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was designed by him, and his trademark is mixing surreal elements with reality and placing everyday objects out of their context.
For Muse, he has designed the covers for Absolution (2003, picture taken on location: Buntingford, Essex), the Butterflies & Hurricanes single (2004, Baldock, Hertfordshire) and Black Holes and Revelations (2006, Bardenas, Spain), as well as the cover for the Uprising single in 2009.
He also contributed to the design of the Hysteria CD and DVD single sleeve with Dan Abbott in 2003, and he designed in 2006 an alternate cover for the Supermassive Black Hole single, but in the end the one designed by Jasper Goodall was used instead. It was included, along with the other covers he made for Muse, in his retrospective book Taken By Storm: The Album Art of Storm Thorgerson, in which Matthew Bellamy wrote the foreword.
He died at April 18th, 2013.
