Description
"Dig Down" is a single that was released on May 18th, 2017. The song is more focused on Dominic's drums and Chris' bass, there isn't as much guitar from Matt except for a small solo in the second half of the song. According to Matt, the song and its music video were written six weeks before its release; this means that the writing, rehearsing, and recording of the song as well as the music video were completed in less than two months. Additional Information
At the end of 2016, Muse posted pictures of them on social media hinting they are in the studio. In early April, Matt posted a video on Instagram that they were in the studio and a new song is coming soon. The song, wrapped in secrecy other than the BTS videos, was to be released with a music video on YouTube and on the KROQ Los Angeles radio station, followed by an interview with Matthew and Dominic on May 18th, 2017.
On May 8th and 9th, 2017, the band posted 2 videos called BTS and BTS #2, showing brief behind the scenes footage of an upcoming video. On May 11th, it was officially announced a new single called "Dig Down" would be released on May 18th, 2017,[2] at exactly 07:00 Pacific Standard Time, on the KROQ Radio station in Los Angeles, California. At the same time, they released the music video for the song as well.
When asked what the song was about, Matthew Bellamy said “When I was writing this song, I was looking to counteract the current negativity in the world and give inspiration, optimism and hope to people to fight for the causes they believe in; that as individuals we can choose to change the world if we want to.”
The director of the music video, Lance Drake, said “The song is about survival and fighting the odds – when I heard this song I knew I wanted to do an action-packed narrative..."

Lyrics
When hope and love has been lost and you fall to the ground
You must find a way When the darkness descends and you’re told it’s the end You must find a way
When god decides to look the other way and a clown takes the throne We must find a way Face the firing squad, against the odds You will find a way
Dig Down Dig Down Dig Down and find faith When you’re close to the edge With a gun to your head You must find a way
When friends are thin on the ground and they try to divide us We must find a way We have entered the fray and we will not obey We must find a way, yeah
Dig Down Dig Down Dig Down and find faith When they’ve left you for dead and you can only see red You must find a way
Dig Down Dig Down Dig Down, find faith We won’t let them divide, We will never abide We will find a way
aaahhh aaahhh
