Information
One of Muse's biggest gigs of the Absolution tour, in which they headlined Glastonbury Festival for the first time. This gig is often regarded as one of Muse’s greatest ever performances.
Tragically, shortly after the show ended at 1:15am, William Howard, Dom's father who had been in attendance that night, suffered a heart attack and collapsed. He was rushed to an on-site medical centre, but died shortly after arriving. He was 62 years old.[2] A statement released on Muse's website read;
"In this dreadfully difficult time, we request that the privacy of Dom’s family and friends is respected whist our sincere and heartfelt sympathy extends to Dominic and the Howard family."
In the wake of this, Muse would cancel their following gig at Lazzaretto that was due to take place on 30 June.
The Show
Matt performed the Shuffle Dance during Time Is Running Out. At the end of Blackout when Matt puts his guitar on his head, you can see that his ring finger is bleeding.
During the end of Stockholm Syndrome the microphone on Dom's snare drum fell off and Matt pulled most of the drum-kit away. Chris also jumped into the crowd during the song, playing the Execution Commentary riff from there before throwing his Pedulla RB5 back onto stage, and finally running it through the head of the bass drum. The stage was virtually completely destroyed by the end of the gig.
Attire
Matt wore the iconic white lab coat during the gig. The outfit has become synonymous with this gig, though the coat was actually worn on numerous occasions throughout the Absolution Tour, including at least once before this gig.
