Popcorn was rarely performed and was only played at the first five gigs of The Resistance tour. It was likely performed only for the Seaside Rendezvous gigs and then the following three gigs as some sort of treat to fans at the kickoff of the tour. The likelihood of Popcorn making a return to setlists is very low because of this as well as its status as a b-side. It was the last b-side to be performed live and the only one from The Resistance era to be performed.

Analysis and Explanation

A cover of the Gershon Kingsley song, made famous by the band Hot Butter, Popcorn was first played by the band at both Seaside Rendezvous gigs in September 2009. Matt stated they chose to play the song since it reminded them of a roller-disco they once attended in Teignmouth. The song was then played a three more gigs afterwards, including their Taratata show where they were required to play a cover, before being dropped - making no appearances at any mainline Resistance Tour gigs.

It looks near on certain that Popcorn won't be played live again, an assumption that was backed up when it was not included as a setlist option at the 2017 Shepherd's Bush Empire by-request gig. Popcorn also holds the distinction of being the only b-side from The Resistance to be performed live.
