De Staat is an alternative rock band from Nijmengen, Netherlands. Formed in 2006, the band started out as a one-man-band project by the lead singer Torre Florim who also got the band together. Their line-up consists of Torre Florim, Vedran Mircetic, Jop van Summeren, Roco Bell and Tim van Delft.

De Staat is an alternative, electronic and experimental rock band from Nijmengen, Netherlands. Formed in 2006, the band started out as a one-man-band project by the lead singer Torre Florim who also got the band together. As of 2008, their line-up includes lead vocalist/guitarist Torre Florim, guitarist Vedran Mirčetić, bassist Jop van Summeren, guitarist/vocalist/keyboard player Roco Bell and drummer Tim van Delft. Their discography currently consists of ''Wait For Evolution'' (2009), ''Machinery'' (2011), ''I_Con'' (2013), ''Vinticious Versions'' (EP) (2014), ''O'' (2016), ''Live in Utrecht'' (Live Album) (2016) and ''Bubble Gum'' (2019).


De Staat will be supporting Muse during the European leg of the [[The Drones World Tour 2015/16|Drones World Tour]] at a gig in [[Munich Olympiahalle 2016 (gig)|Olympiahalle]] on March 31st.
De Staat are known for blending elements of indie and garage rock with elements of electronic and experimental rock.
 
On the album Machinery and it's tours, the band used a custom-built "drumming machine" consisting of common recycled items and scrap metal, designed and built by Geert Jonkers. A tiny table-top version of the machine was (with champagne) given by De Staat as a gift to Muse in 2016.
