The Exogenesis: Symphony is one of Muse's most complex works and because of this made it difficult to perform. It has never been attempted in full due to Matt being frightened that it wouldn't turn out well. For that reason alone Parts II and III were never performed during The Resistance tour, and Part II has never been performed at all.


It made a surprise appearance in 2013 for just one gig. It made its live debut at the second gig of 2011 in Japan. The hauntingly beautiful music video was played above the band while the song was performed. For unknown reasons it would not make a second appearance throughout the tour. Its status as a highly-complex song has prevented it from being performed more often, and because of this it is unlikely to make a return to setlists. Given the theme of the Drones tour, though, it would fit in well with current setlists.
Excluding songs that were never performed, this song has been performed the least out of any Muse song to be released on an album.

This page contains a list of all known performances of Exogenesis: Symphony Part III (Redemption).

Analysis and Explanation

The Exogenesis: Symphony is one of Muse's most complex works and because of this made it difficult to perform. It has never been attempted in full due to Matt being frightened that it wouldn't turn out well. For that reason alone Parts II and III were never performed during The Resistance tour, and Part II has never been performed at all.

It made a surprise appearance in 2013 for just one gig. It made its live debut at the second gig of 2011 in Japan. The hauntingly beautiful music video was played above the band while the song was performed. For unknown reasons it would not make a second appearance throughout the tour.
