Information
The gig marked the first time Muse played at the Montreux Jazz Festival since 2002.
The Show
The gig ended up being extremely reminiscent of the infamous Tokyo Zepp gig from August 2013. Lots of rare songs and B-sides were played, and the band dressed up in their Panic Station music video costumes for the encore (they were also joined by numerous members of the crew whom were also dressed up).
Hyper Music, Fury, The Groove, Futurism, and Micro Cuts were all played for the first time since 2015. Agitated, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Assassin, and Panic Station were played for just the second time in 2016 and the first time on the festivals tour. Assassin was also played without the Grand Omega Bosses outro for the first time since 2007.
During The Groove, Matt mixed up the lyrics and swapped the first and second verses. Dom also changed up the drum pattern for it a bit.
Mercy closed a show for the first and only time.
The LED screen behind the band was not used until the encore. It's unclear whether this was intentional or not.
Last performances of Hyper Music, The Groove, Micro Cuts, and Panic Station to date.
Media
According to Tom Kirk, just like the Tokyo Zepp gig, the full gig was filmed and recorded. However, the full show has yet to be released. So far the only song that has been released is Fury (audio only), which was released as the 2016 muse.mu Christmas Present. [1]
Matt posted a GoPro video from the gig on his Instagram during the Voodoo Child intro to Supermassive Black Hole. It can be watched here.
A fan-made multicamera edit of the show can be watched here.
