A festival show, part of The Resistance Tour

Information

Glastonbury creator Michael Eavis first mentioned the "Next in line to Queen's throne" headliner, via his Twitter feed, on the 2nd of December, 2009. Two months to the day later, Eavis stated during the Event Production Show that it would be Muse who would headline on the 26th of June, 2010.[1]

The show

Matthew Bellamy told NME Radio that "We're hoping to do something a bit unusual there. A little collaboration with someone, maybe get Bono to come and sing a song. I'm not sure if he'll be hanging around for that, but I'll ask him anyway." [[U2>]] were to headline on 25th June, the night before Muse perform,[3] but were forced to withdraw after Bono suffered a back injury, making way for Gorillaz in the Friday night slot.[4] It was later rumored that U2 guitarist The Edge would perform with Muse.[5][6] This turned out to be true, as he sang and played guitar during an one-off cover of Where the Streets Have No Name.

The most voted songs on the official setlist polls were Citizen Erased, Assassin, The Small Print, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist and Darkshines, the first of which was played at the gig.

An early version of the main riff to Isolated System can be heard after the second verse of Undisclosed Desires.

Tom Kirk said in an interview that this gig was probably his favourite of The Resistance tour.

Speech

After Uprising Bellamy "Thank you Glastonbury!"
After Supermassive Black Hole "Merci beaucoup!" ("Thank you!").[7]
After New Born Howard "Thank you very much ... you guys are looking very nice out there. Lovely flags."
After Map of the Problematique Bellamy "Thanks very much. Cheers. You guys are fantastic!"
Before Feeling Good "It's fucking sunny at last... at Glastonbury! Jesus Christ! Been waiting for 15 fucking years for the sun! Happy 40th anniversary by the way. Big cheer for Mr. Eavis ... and his daughter!"
Before Starlight "Glastonbury!"
After Where the Streets Have No Names "Give a big hand to The Edge!"
After Knights of Cydonia "Thank you Glastonbury! You guys have been amazing tonight! Thank you!"
Howard "You guys have a great weekend! Enjoy! Enjoy that sunshine. You guys are wicked! Have fun! Thank you very much. We love you guys! See ya. Thank you!"
