Intro to The Members Rigs

A quick introduction for those of you who don't know the guys rigs. More information found on the Gear section. Matt at the moment uses a Kemper modeling head with mostly manson guitars, and marshall models, with a wide variety of effects. However, in the early days, he mainly used Marshalls or the Vox AC30. Chris' amps and basses have changed over the years but the main setup remains the same. Split the bass channel into three, one clean, one with a Big Muff, one with an Animato, each going to separate amps.

For this, Matt uses a DigiTech whammy for the riff (1 octave down) and for the bridge (1 octave up). On the bridge and the solo he also uses an Electro-Harmonix micro synth.

Matt used the Manson DeLorean for this song. In an interview with Total Guitar magazine, he said he might not have written the song if it wasn't for this guitar. For the riff, Matt uses the ZVex Fuzz Factory, which is built into his Manson Delorean. For the verse parts, Matt used a Roland VG-8 guitar synthesizer with the Roland GK-2 MIDI pickup, to emulate pulsing strings.

Hysteria

(Bass) Hysteria is one of Muse's most coveted and most sought after bass tones. It follows the standard set up of clean, big muff, animato, and was recorded on a Marshall DBS 7400 amp, with presumably 2 1x15 cabs and one 1x15 (as this is what he uses live), with a Pedulla Rapture RB5. A synth tone can be heard as well, which some believe is the Digitech Bass Synth Wah, but is actually the Roland JP-8080 synthesiser, used by either Chris or Bellamy.

I'm unsure what fuzz pedal was used, but Matt has said that he DI'd (Direct injected) fuzz for this one, it's likely it was a Big Muff or Fuzz Factory.

The Globalist

(Guitar) Matt recorded the opening section on a Fender amp, with a variety of 7 string guitars, such as a 7 string Fender Strat, and the Manson E Guitar (Bass)In the making of The Globalist video, Chris talks about the octave effect being used during the heavy mid section, but for the most part, the bass part is clean.
