The Quails were an English indie rock band active between 2006 and 2011. The band consisted of vocalist and guitarist Dan Steer, guitarist Max Armstrong bassist Sam Banks and drummer Chris Prentice. Similar to Muse, all members came from the same school in Teignmouth. After their split, Steer formed a new band called These Reigning Days.

During their career, the band released two studio albums called I've Heard It's All Rumours (2008) and Master of Imperfection (2010). They supported The Kooks and performed in Turkey at an EU-funded festival headlined by Motörhead with a TV crew from Exeter following the band, filming a documentary.

The Quails supported Muse during the first night of the two Seaside Rendezvous gigs in Teignmouth.
