Listen
Description
Creepy B-side which was played sometimes in the European tour promoting Showbiz.
Features a powerful whammy solo.
The bass appears to be played with an E-Bow.
The repeating guitar riff at the start of the song bears a similarity to Light From a Dead Star by Lush.
Live
The track was rarely played live and was only played between September 1999 and January 2000. While the known first gig is in September it is possible the song was premiered sometime before then. During the first half of January 2000 it was played at nearly every gig, however it was dropped sometime shortly after. Due to a lack of known setlists between February and April 2000, it is entirely possible, although unlikely, that the song was played up until then.

Additional information
The meaning is very similar to the themes of Showbiz. It was originally believed to be a Muscle Museum b-side, but held back for Unintended.. There are also shared/similar lyrics to earlier versions of Sunburn.

Different take lyrics
At the end of Blackout when Matt puts his guitar on his head, you can see that his ring finger is bleeding.
The following lyrics were used when the 'different take' version was sung at a BBC session in 1999. Note that they include lyrics reused from the demo version of Sunburn that was not included in Showbiz, but were dropped from the studio recording of Recess.

Information

One of Muse's biggest gigs of the Absolution tour, in which they headlined the Glastonbury Festival for the first time.

After Stockholm Syndrome, Dominic Howard's dad collapsed with a heart attack and died on-site. This was a very sad and hard time for the band.[1]

The Show

Matthew Bellamy performed the Shuffle Dance during Time Is Running Out. During the end of Stockholm Syndrome the microphone on Howard's snare drum fell off—Bellamy pulled most of the drum-kit away. The stage was destroyed at the end of the gig.

At the end of Stockholm Syndrome Christopher Wolstenholme jumped into the crowd, playing the Execution Commentary riff from there before throwing his Pedulla RB5 back onto stage, and finally running it through the head of the bass drum.

At the end of Blackout when Matt puts his guitar on his head, you can see that his ring finger is bleeding.

Attire

Bellamy wore the 'lab coat'.

Speech

After Hysteria Bellamy "Thank you"
After New Born "Thank you very much"
Howard "How's it going Glastonbury"
Bellamy "Good to see ya, good to see ya ... good to be home".
After Apocalypse Please "Thank you very much"
After Ruled by Secrecy "Cheers".
After Sunburn Howard "Thank you".
After Butterflies & Hurricanes Bellamy "Thanks a lot".
After Plug In Baby "Thank you Glastonbury!"
Before Blackout "Thank you very much, thank you very much.... This next song is specifically designed for the use of lighters".
Before Stockholm Syndrome Howard "Thank you Glastonbury".
Bellamy "Thank you very much for staying out in all the mud and everything, this has been the best gig of our lives, thank you very much, this is our last song, this song is called Stockholm Syndrome".
After Stockholm Syndrome Howard "Thank you Glastonbury... you've been fucking amazing, cheers, take care and good night".

Media

The full gig was broadcast in real-time on digital television and a recording of that is available on an online torrent. Bliss, Time Is Running Out, Plug In Baby, Blackout and Stockholm Syndrome were shown on BBC2. The Absolution Tour DVD does not include Citizen Erased nor Stockholm Syndrome.
