| According to Matt: "The verses speak somewhat of a dead relationship or something like that. There was a great part of improvisation. Making music or sing is for me an act of seeking absolution. In fact, this is my personal way to find a manner to understand myself, understand all these elements confusing on me, those things that scare me and that arise in this song <ref name="RockMagSeptember2003"/>

| According to [[Dominic Howard]], this song is about writing music,<ref name="laut20031002">{{cite/laut20031002}}</ref> singing<ref name="unt2003">{{cite/3VOOR12 2003-09-24}}</ref> and the finding of non-religious absolution through both.<ref name="laut20031002"/><ref name="unt2003"/> He described the process of song writing as starting with things one does not understand and the result as feeling better about them.<ref name="unt2003"/>

| |Lips are turning blue

| A kiss that can't renew
