Pedulla or M.V. Pedulla was a private bass guitar manufacturer from Boston, Massachussets, USA. The company was founded in 1975 by luthier Michael V. Pedulla and ceased their opartions in 2019, when he announced his retirement. Pedulla's range of basses included the Thunderbass, the Thunderbolt, the MVP Bass and the Buzz fretless and fretted bass, which made the company popular in the 1980s, and the Rapture line, which were Fender bass clones and were used by Chris.

----
Wolstenholme used Pedullas live and in the studio between 1999 and 2007. After using Pedullas for 5 years for live performances, when the Black Holes and Revelation Tour started, he swapped from Pedullas to Fender Jazz Basses. One of Wolstenholme's Pedulla RB4's was on display in the Manson Guitar Shop in Devon, above Bellamy's M1D1 Mirror.

Chris mainly uses leather straps from Status Graphite these days, but has been seen using ones from Manson Guitar Works in the past - the same as Bellamy uses.

Chris' first known Pedulla. Used on gigs from 1999 to 2001 (such as Bizarre Festival 2000 and the St. Malo gig in 2001) for songs in DADG (Drop-D) tuning.

In the studio, Chris has been seen using a '73 Jazz Bass, a '77 Jazz Bass and Status basses. An Ampeg SVT-VR and Ashdown BTA 400 heads were also part of his studio setup. During a 2018 interview on Virgin Radio Italy, Matt mentioned Chris also used a Misa Kitara for Break It To Me in the studio.
This Pedulla featured a tobacco sunburst paintjob with a tortoise shell pickguard and one soapbar pickup.

When speaking to John Kennedy on Radio X, he mentioned that, as opposed to previous albums being recorded with a live rig (giving them a set tone when done tracking), they've mostly recorded Simulation Theory with clean bass going straight into the console, which gave them flexibility to manipulate the sound later in the DAW.

This bass was used to record Origin Of Symmetry & was used at some gigs in 2001 and in the Plug In Baby music video, he bought it for £1300 before being sold as a Part-ex at the Manson Guitar Shop.

Chris preferred the sound of the single soapbar pickup Raptures as opposed to dual Jazz-style pickup Raoptzres and since then, he has only used single-pickup Raptures.

*Status Chris Wolstenholme Signature Bass
Used from 2001 after Chris had sold the blue dual J-Style pickup Rapture. Can be seen on the Hullabaloo DVD for songs in standard EADG tuning. This bass was also used for live performances of Space Dementia in 2004 & Micro Cuts at some some gigs in 2007. It was also tested in studio whilst recording Undisclosed Desires to try find the best slap sound.

*Fender '73 Jazz Bass

Effects
In terms of looks, it was identical to the previous blue Pedulla.

Rack 1
Flat Black, Rosewood Neck, Flat Black Pickguard, Single Soapbar Pickup
Used for songs in dropped-D tuning between 2001 & 2004, can be seen on the Hullabaloo DVD. While playing Stockholm Syndrome in Trabendo, France in 2003, a straplock broke causing Chris to play the remainder of the song while trying to hold the bass up. After Bellamy had thrashed Howard's kit, Chris held the bass over his head & launched it onto the drum riser. The bass landed on the head, possibly cracking it and 1st string peg. He made a new hole for the 1st string peg since the old one was useless. This makes this bass suspected as 5 string Pedulla. But, it's too strange for a 5-string bass (note the bridge, PU dimension, string spacing, and nut width).

* ETA Systems EPD11 LVIEC-CE
Candy Red, Rosewood Neck, White Pickguard, Single Soapbar Pickup
* Empirical Labs Distressor
This bass was used for all songs in standard tuning between 2002 & 2005. At the end of 2003, Chris sprayed the white pickguard flat black & after a while sprayed the whole body flat black, except for a design believed to be a Dragon, which was left red.
* Custom connector panel (Unknown)
Chris also used this bass briefly in 2006 for the Shepherds Bush gig for 2 songs, Stockholm Syndrome and Butterflies and Hurricanes, possibly because of the fast-paced finger picking in both songs, Chris was more comfortable with the usual feel of the Rapture.

During the tour, he acquired a new black/maple fretboard Fender Jazz Bass, a new Black/Stealth 5-String and a custom LED-Strip Status bass.

Effects-wise, he added a Pigtronix Disnortion distortion/fuzz and the Eventide H9 Harmonizer, while the POG2, allthough not seen on pics before, has likely been on his board since the 2017 Amphitheatre Tour.

He also updated the two Skrydstrup MR10 loop switchers with the RJM Effect Gizmo loop switchers.

According to Chris's bass tech Jon Ashworth, the sound is based around the Markbass SD1200 heads running through the Markbass 1x15 cabinets and distortion is layered on top of that either through Kempers or through individual pedals, which are connected to RJM Switching Systems.

Drones
During the recording of Drones, Chris mainly used Status bass guitars, allthough a Rickenbacker and a Gibson Grabber were also spotted in the studio. He ran them through an Ampeg SVT-VR head for the clean channel and two Marshall DBS 7400s for distorted channels. Later, for the cover of New Kind of Kick, he likely used a Gretsch Thunder Jet, seen in the video, in the studio.

As for the Drones tour, Chris kept the bass setup the same as for The 2nd Law tour, with the 5-string Jazz Bass making a return for a couple of Assassin performances. The Chris Wolstenholme Status Graphite 5-String bass also made appearances for Assassin. Chris switched from Marshall to Markbass heads and Markbass cabinets for the Drones tour.  The Kemper amps, added for the tour, serve for the two distortion/fuzz channels, one for Big Muff and another one for Animato. He also included an Empirical labs Distressor.

Stated in the Bass Guitar Magazine from 2009 as,
* 1x Mills Acoustics 115B
* 2x Mills Acoustics 410B

Both of these cabs are debatable, as in the DunlopTV interview Shane Goodwin says Chris uses two 215 cabs and one 115 cab.

The cabs actually used will more likely be,
* 2x Marshall DBS 7215
* 1x Marshall DBS 7115

There is the possibility of the use of some custom Mills cabs, however, there is no mention of Chris on the Mills website.

Chris' Dragon Pedulla

Pedulla or M.V. Pedulla was a private bass guitar manufacturer from Boston, Massachussets, USA. The company was founded in 1975 by luthier Michael V. Pedulla and ceased their opartions in 2019, when he announced his retirement. Pedulla's range of basses included the Thunderbass, the Thunderbolt, the MVP Bass and the Buzz fretless and fretted bass, which made the company popular in the 1980s, and the Rapture line, which were Fender bass clones and were used by Chris.

This Pedulla featured a tobacco sunburst paintjob with a tortoise shell pickguard and one soapbar pickup.

In terms of looks, it was identical to the previous blue Pedulla.

Candy Red, Rosewood Neck, White Pickguard, Single Soapbar Pickup

This bass was used for all songs in standard tuning between 2002 & 2005. At the end of 2003, Chris sprayed the white pickguard flat black & after a while sprayed the whole body flat black, except for a design believed to be a Dragon, which was left red.
