My Vitriol

My Vitriol are a British alternative rock band from London. They were formed in 1998 by drummer Ravi Kesavaram and multi-instrumentalist Som Wardner. After playing together, they released their first EP called Delusions of Grandeur. Two days later, BBC Radio 1's Steve Lamacq recieved a copy at a gig and started playing it on his Session Unsigned slot, which lead to more exposure. Recruiting guitarist Seth Taylor and bassist Carolyn Bannister, they recorded their debut double single, Always: Your Way/Pieces on 6 December 1999.

In 2000, the band released their second single, Losing Touch. The three singles peaked at number 91, 56 and 31 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2001, they released their debut album called Finelines, which included their biggest hit, Grounded which peaked at 29. They soon went on an extensive festival tour around UK, European and Japanese festivals.

In 2002, Wardner announced a hiatus. In 2003 it was reported that the band were recording an album, which was due to be released in 2004. The first post-hiatus gig took place at O2 Academy Islington in London in 2005, where they played a low key gig. They played new material and a live album of the show, Cast In Amber, was released. The same year, bassist Carolyn Bannister left the band and was replaced by Laura Salmon.

In 2007, they released a limited edition single under a pseudonym "A Secret Society". The single was followed shortly after, in 2007, by an EP called A Pyrrhic Victory. The same year they also released an EP called War of the Worlds. They continued to play gigs until 2009, when they played their final gig before their second four year hiatus. Seth Taylor

In 2013, they played their first show in four years at KOKO in London. Seth Taylor had to leave the band for a brief moment and was replaced by Sam Harvey. Taylor returned in September of 2013. Laura Salmon was replaced by Tatia Starkey, daughter of The Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr. In 2014, they launched a PledgeMusic campaign to fund a new album planned for a 2014 release. The album, The Secret Sessions, was released two years later, in 2016. Since then, the band continues to play live gigs.

My Vitriol played with Muse as supprort during The Drones World Tour 2015/16 on 14th April 2016 at London's O2 Arena. This was almost a year later after Bellamy has been seen jamming with them on a bass guitar in 2015. (watch)
