Zilker Metropolitan Park

Zilker Metropolitan Park is a public recreation park in Austin, Texas. The park comprises of 350 acres of publicly owned land and is named after Andrew Jackson Zilker, its benefactor, who donated the land to the city in a series of sales in 1917, 1923 and 1931. The proceeds of the sale were donated to a trust dedicated to funding Austin's public shools. The land was developed into a park in 1930s after the Great Depression. A lake named Lady Bird Lake is also located in the park, as is the Barton Springs Pool and the Zilker Zephyr, a 305 mm gauge miniature railway, that carries passengers for a tour around the park. It also houses a disc golf course, volleyball courts, an amphitheatre named "Zilker Hillside Theater", a recreation center and the Zilker Nature & Science Center. The Zilker Botanical Garden is also located at the park.[1] The park hosts the Austin City Limits music festival.[1]

The Zilker Park is comprised of open spaces and allows for a variety of events to take place at the premises of the park, the most notable of which is the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which takes place each fall and, since 2012, takes place for two weekends. Muse performed at the festival a total of five times, on four editions, since it's first edition in 2002.
