Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a post-rock band based in Montreal, Quebec and formed in 1994. Their songs are long, usually over 20 minutes long, structured as movements, including unusual use of instrumentation and sounds. They band is currently on hiatus.
In a December 2006 interview with Wolstenholme, when he was asked about what did he listen to in those days, he answered: "I love the song 'Sleep' by Godspeed You Black Emperor - a brilliant 25 minute monster. Though it's already some years old. I fear I don't get very much of what's on nowadays."[1]
