Ennio Morricone is an Italian film composer, perhaps most famous for his scores for director Sergio Leone's 'Dollar's Trilogy,' including the films 'A Fistful of Dollars,' 'For A Few Dollars More' and 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.' He has also worked on other classics such as Leone's 'Once Upon A Time In The West' and Brian De Palma's 'The Untouchables.'

Muse have stated Morricone as an influence on various songs from Black Holes & Revelations, such as City Of Delusion, Hoodoo and Knights Of Cydonia.

As of the 13th of August 2008, Muse have performed Morricone's Man With a Harmonica, from his famous score from 'Once Upon A Time In The West,' as an introduction to Knights Of Cydonia, with Chris playing the harmonica.

During the US leg of The Resistance tour, Il Mercenario (L'Arena), from the score for 'The Mercenary', has been performed as an introduction to Time Is Running Out, with Matt playing guitar solo while whistling the haunting theme.
