This guitar was a signature production model made in partnership between Matt Bellamy, Manson's Guitars and Cort Guitars to allow Manson guitars to be more ready available to a wider array of fans.
It is based on Matt's original [[Manson Matt Black | Matt Black]], later releasing a left handed model and subsequently the MBC1-RS (Red Sparkle) - based on the [[Manson Red Glitter | Red Glitter]] in February 2016.
 
The guitar is first of a few other Manson models made in collaboration with Cort.
 
First announced in late 2014, it was unveiled at the NAMM show in January 2015.
 
The Cort MBC-1 was discontinued in late 2018 and replaced with the [[Manson MBM-1 Meta Series Matthew Bellamy Signature Guitar|Manson MBM-1 Meta Series]] guitar, which came out in 2020.

Since it's release, over time, Manson's Guitar Works released various upgrade options, along with the new models, such as Sustainiac neck pickup, Fuzz Factory Installation etc., and a Stealth Pack Upgrade - with all the hardware being replaced with all black materials, to resemble the [[Manson Matt Black Stealth (batch)#Manson Matt Black Stealth - #1]].
