Ben Folds Five was a trio formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Ben Folds Five consisted of Ben Folds (lead singer, pianist) and Robert Sledge (Bass) and Darren Jessee (Drums) .They were a piano rock band until their breakup in 2000.
In 2005 Bellamy told Keyboardmag
"But in terms of piano, I love Ben Folds, but to me, that’s a very different style of music. I love the low, heavy piano bit in “Jackson Cannery.” It made me realize if you want to get heavy, you have to get down there and hit some large chord".
