Originally performed by [[AC/DC]], Muse performed a cover of Back in Black five times during the band's shows at the Big Day Out festivals in January 2010, each time joined by [[Nic Cester]], lead singer of the band [[Jet]], on vocals. The song was done as a tribute to AC/DC themselves due to the gigs taking place in Australia. Cester's band Jet have a similar style to AC/DC, which is likely why he was chosen to sing the cover. It was not performed after the Big Day Out festivals with the exception of one performance at the San Siro in June 2010, where the band happened to be in Italy at the same time as Cester, thus they decided to play the song.
 
The song appeared on the setlist for Glastonbury Festival 2016, and the band themselves hinted prior to the gig that they may bring in a special guest during the show (most likely to sing the song). But for unknown reasons it wasn't played and the song was crossed off the setlist. It was instead performed in 2017 at the Reading Festival gig, with AC/DC singer [[Brian Johnson]] joining the band onstage to sing the song. The performance was uploaded officially on YouTube by the band after Malcolm Young's death later the same year.
