It has been used as the ground for the 2 main stages at the Big Day Out since the festival came to New Zealand in 1994. The surrounding outer grounds are used for the smaller stages. It has previously been used to hold bands such as Pearl Jam and will host U2 in November 2006. Muse have played here once before as part of the 2004 Big Day Out.
