Tuning : Drop D

It's a very experimental one for Muse now. I think
this song quite made the unanimity, I love it. The
atmosphere is breathtaking !

Let's start with the probable presence of palm muted
in the intro. I say "probable" because we acutally
can hear those palm muted notes before the second
verse, and I guess that they carry on through the
second verse, but also through the intro and the
first verse, even if we can't hear them, or barely.
Let's say it starts at 0:17 :

Now, I give you the synth part. You start to play it
at the third time you play the palm muted notes that
are on the 5th fret of the 6th string. I advice you
to use a Whammy pedal with the -1 and +1 octave Harmony
effect. Not Whammy effects, the Harmony effects !
Use +1 octave on the first group of notes, and -1
octave on the second group of notes. It goes like

the song, I'll tell you where to use it. You must

want to play the palm muted notes, you can still play
the synth part !

For the second chorus, it's nearly the same as the
first. You actually only change the last note on the
first time you play it. On the second time, you just
don't play this last note :

what I'd do. But you can still play the palm muted on
the 5th fret on the 6th string, if you want to play
until the last second of the song.

on suppositions. It may be in Standard tuning, and
there may be
