Madison Square Garden, also known as The Garden or MSG, is an indoor multi-purpose arena in Manhattan, New York City. It was opened in 1968 and is the fourth venue to bear the name "Madison Square Garden" and the oldest major sporting facility in the New York metropolitan area, aswell as the oldest arena in the NHL and the NBA. The arena is close to many of NYC's landmarks, including the Empire State Building and Macy's at Herald Square. MSG is the second busiest arena in the world, behind The O2 Arena in London. It is perhaps most known for it's cylinder-shape and the inverted cone-shaped interior roof.

The arena is current home to St. John's Red Storm of NCAA, New York Knicks of NBA and New York Rangers of NHL. Former tennants include New York Raiders/Golden Blades of WHA, New York Apples of WTT, New York Stars of WBL, New York Cosmos of NASL, New York Knights and New York CityHawks of AFL, New York Liberty of WNBA and New York Titans of NLL. The arena was also home to Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and Disney On Ice. MSG hosted many sporting events, including several WWE events, and is considered the mecca for professional wrestling. Amongst the WWE events hosted are the 2000 and 2008 editions of Royal Rumble, the 1988, 1991 and 1998 editions of SummerSlam and 1996, 2002 and 2011 editions of Survivor Series. It also hosted several major league events.

Due to it's long history, the arena hosted many iconic artists. Notable music events that took place in the arena include George Harrison's The Concert for Bangladesh, The Concert for New York City after the 9/11 attacks, John Lennon's final concert appearance during Elton John's Thanksgiving Night, Led Zeppelin's three-night stand in 1973, which was released as a film and a music album and the 2008 The Police gig, which was their last show. Other musical acts who performed in the arena include Billy Joel, Metallica, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Bruce Springsteen, U2, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Slayer, The 1975, Rush, Janet Jackson, Frank Sinatra, B.B. King, The Doors, Cream, The Jackson 5, Pearl Jam, Adele, The Who, Elvis Presley, Rammstein, The Beach Boys, David Bowie, Eagles, Coldplay, Oasis and more.

Other events that took place in the arena include the 1976 Democratic National Convention, the 1980 Democratic National Convention, the 1992 Democratic National Convention and the 2004 Republican National Convention. The New York Police Academy, Baruch College/CUNY and Yeshiva University all host their annual graduation ceremonies in the arena. In 1972, 1997, 2003 and 2018 were held in the arena and in 2006 the Latin Grammy Awards took place in MSG.
