Second of the two Coachella Festival 2014 shows. Last gig of 2014 and last gig of The 2nd Law era.

Information

Announced in January of 2014, Muse were headlining night two of both weekends at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2014. Other headliners were OutKast and Arcade Fire.

The Show

The set was shortened due to Matt's voice still being in rusty condition from his bout of Laryngitis. Lithium was on the setlist, but not played. It was replaced with a 5-6 minute riffage outro to Stockholm Syndrome. Uprising was played with Matt and Chris elevated in the air on movable podium cranes, like during The Resistance Tour. Also during Uprising, Matt erroneously sang "They will stop control us" during the second chorus.

At some point during the gig, Bellamy said "It's my girlfriend's birthday today. Her name is Kate, she's out there somewhere. I want everyone to sing Happy Birthday to her." After the series of riffs Matt threw his guitar several times and ended up balancing on the top of his Dickinson Amp with the guitar lying underneath the amp.

Last performance of Survival to date and the final performance of Animals with the actor and the "Museo" confetti. Also the last performance of Isolated System in its full length, as subsequent performances of the song were shortened and more minimalistic. This performance of Survival also marked the only time that the same song both opened and closed a live era (being played in the first gig at the London Olympics in 2012).
